The shelving that was usually covered in stuff that did not need to be seen - ugly and very messy. The more space we had - the more mess we had. The essential items have been consolidated into the area below the sight line, and anything non essential was thrown out or moved to another location.

Installing the panels ...

We think the result is pretty good and the response from the school community has been very positive.
We are going to have a few designs created to change around through the year for different events like Chinese New Year, Book Week, and another generic theme. Thankfully these custom made foam panels are very reasonably priced in Hong Kong.

What a great idea! I need to do this to some ROOMS at my house. I love the panels and the quotes.

Wow! Your panels are awesome! We, too, have bookshelves behind the circulation desk. This is a great idea!
These are beautiful Dianne, well done
This looks great Dianne! I love the fact you have actioned this so promptly and also that you ran with my suggestion for seasonal change. Keep up the great work ...and keep me posted on developments too.
Cheers, Kevin
Awesome, Dianne! Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to us all.
Beautiful. Just what we need. Supplier details please.
The panels were designed by one of our library assistants who is a graphic designer using royalty free designes. They were printed at the Banner Shop in Hong Kong.
Well dode, Dianne! Excellent work.
I would like to purchase some similar panels for our photolab (not for free, of course). :) We have the same problem with lots of empty shelves in a big room.
Lovely! I have some shelves that ascend skyward that could use some panels, too. Thanks for this great idea! It looks like your graphic design library assistant is a real asset. Nice work making that happen.
My students liked it very much, I'm sure there will be lots of these panels popping up around the place.
You just solved my ugly shelf problem!!! A true smack my head moment!! Thank You!
The renovations are beautiful. I would have never thought to do something so charming. I really like the quotes that are centered on various doors.
